Wooden features fabricated and installed at Tom Adam’s Boatbuilder for this newly built Stanley including raised panel doors, decorative trim and dashboard gear trays. An initial visit to Connor Industries during boat construction provided technical details to facilitate the work. Raw material included a selection of premium African and Cuban mahogany boards. Patterns were designed to custom fit each wooden piece to the shape and contours of the hull. A router was used to form three grooves in each trim piece including the rabbet, and the inside and outside edge.
Two wooden trays were fabricated and installed port and starboard on the dashboard. Trays have a raised edge and are installed with an airspace between the wood and aluminum dash to keep them dry.
Wooden trim was fabricated for six storage compartments, two below the forward facing seats, two below the inboard facing seats, one inside the hinged entrance door integral to the bulkhead surrounding the open aft deck, and the glove compartment on the port side below the dashboard. Covering doors were also fabricated for the glove compartment and the two compartments below the inboard facing seats. Stainless steel hinges and closure hardware were used.
A set of two, 22” wide raised wooden panel doors with fixed glass edged by wooden strips was fabricated and installed to fit the 44” clear opening in the aft bulkhead of the cabin. Mortise and tenon joinery enhance the custom woodworking of these doors. Stainless steel hinges, door latches and bullet catches along with weather stripping form a tight seal to the elements.
