BIG BOY II, a 27' Utility was designed and built by Clive Brown in Muskoka in 1939 for use in carrying goods and passengers between the mainland and its island home. Clive Brown's reputation for one-of-a-kind boats is exemplified with BIG BOY II by its solid construction of unusually thick planking, forefoot and stem as well as the use of golden oak for covering boards. Fittings are uniquely designed, hardware is brass and the open cockpit is fully covered with a navy top. Work accomplished at Tom Adam's shop included replacement of stem, forefoot, bottom section of approximately 22 ribs each side, four to nine feet of forward planks, a section of the keel, renewed portions of rotten wood from the skeg, a new 1-1/4 inch thick cap along the length of the skeg and new stainless steel threaded rods for attachment to the keel.
