MISS CANADA IV was designed by C. Douglas Van Patten, N.A. and commissioned by the Wilson's, part owners of Greavette Boat Works, as a Canadian entry in the Harmsworth International Trophy. Harold and Lorna Wilson were a driver and a riding mechanic of the race boat. A world water speed record was attempted at the Bay of Quinte in 1949 by the Wilson's and Van Patten where a speed of better than 190 MPH was reached. Mechanical malfunction prior to completing the course disqualified this impressive achievement.
